I won’t support Deceptive Dairy

Camels, like cows, humans and all other mammals, only produce milk for their young. This means that they must be impregnated and give birth before they can be milked. Camel milk is intended to nurture camel calves, not stolen in dairy milking sheds for human consumption.

Across Australia, camel dairy is an emerging intensive animal agribusiness with around 8 camel dairy farms currently in operation. Many of the activities and practices carried out in camel dairies are ‘unknown’. Our inadequate Commonwealth and State/Territory animal welfare laws fail to recognise and protect Australia’s camels or prevent cruelty, pain and suffering in line with public and consumer expectations.

There is zero animal welfare oversight or monitoring of camel mustering, capture and transport, but we recognise all of these experiences would be deeply traumatic and distressing for the camels - especially if they are separated from family members and familiar camels.

This pledge signifies solidarity with the growing movement advocating for a compassionate world for animals, where they are treated with respect and dignity and protected by meaningful and enforceable animal welfare laws.

By taking this pledge, you are saying:

I am committing to making compassionate choices and creating a kinder world. Dairy is an inherently cruel, unhealthy and unsustainable industry. I am joining the increasing number of Australians choosing to go dairy-free.."

Take the pledge and help us build a compassionate and legally protected future for all Australian camels.
