Defend the Wild

Animal Liberation is proud to be part of Defend the Wild initiative.

Native wildlife is precious. Not only do they have their own intrinsic values, they are also essential to the health of environment, playing a vital role in the way the ecosystem functions. And it is our duty to protect them.

Who is Defend the Wild?

Defend the wild is not an organisation, but rather an initiative dedicated to the preservation of the natural world, and the protection of the Indigenous animals who call it home. The initiative is supported by vets, researchers, wildlife experts, rescuers, wildlife carers, biologists, wildlife photographers, Indigenous community members, wildlife shelters, animal protection organisations, and environmental organisations.

What does Defend the Wild hope to achieve?

Defend the Wild seeks to raise awareness of the plight of native wildlife in Australia as well as assist brands, businesses, institutions, and individuals to reduce their impact on the natural world. This is a not-for-profit initiative, meaning there is absolutely no financial incentive for Defend the Wild to endorse any entity.

Defend the Wild has created a Wildlife Protection Commitment, which sets out three tiers of commitment based on the three R’s; Reduce, Revolutionise and Return. If you would like to learn more about the Wildlife Protection Commitment, click here.

Why do we need to defend the wild?

Australian animals need us now more than ever before. These unique and precious animals are struggling to survive in a shrinking environment, while also being persecuted, and trying to adjust to the changing climate. As a result, many species are in decline and on the verge of extinction, which is devastating not just to the animals, but also to humans and the planet too.

That is why Defend the Wild was formed. It is a way to connect like-minded individuals and empower us to fight to preserve wild places and begin restoring the health of the Australian ecosystem. This involves understanding the issues and forging new paths to reach a sustainable and kinder future for all.
