The Problem

Poisons designed to never leave the food chain

Second Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticides (SGARs) are freely available on supermarket shelves. Unlike older formulas, they are highly persistent and bioaccumulate in predator tissue.

Every year, thousands of native animals—including powerful owls, wedge-tailed eagles, kookaburras, and possums—die agonising deaths from secondary poisoning.

When a rodent consumes an SGAR, it doesn't die immediately. It wanders for days, continuing to feed and becoming highly toxic prey. Any natural predator that eats the poisoned rodent also ingests a lethal dose.

Australian wildlife did not evolve alongside these compounds. Our native predators have no tolerance for them. While retailers like Bunnings, Coles, and Woolworths continue to stock these products, the death toll mounts.

The Danger of Pellets & Pastes

Always avoid "throwaway" bait pellets or pastes. These loose formats are easily scattered and are highly likely to be directly consumed by birds, possums, and family pets.

Check the Label: Toxic Ingredients

Brodifacoum & Flocoumafen

The most highly toxic SGARs. A single rodent carcass carries enough poison to kill multiple apex predators. Brands: Talon, Pestex, Storm.

Bromadiolone

Highly persistent in the liver tissue of non-target wildlife, leading to slow, agonizing deaths. Brands: Ratsak, Maki Block, Contrac.

Difethialone & Difenacoum

Highly toxic to birds of prey. Rapidly bioaccumulates in predatory species over successive feedings. Brands: Generation First Strike, Ratsak Fast Action.

Cruelty-Free Prevention

You do not need toxic chemicals to keep rodents away. Implement this proven, non-lethal intervention protocol to protect your home without harming native wildlife.

[ PHASE 01 ]

Physical Exclusion

The Objective: Deny Entry Rodents can squeeze through holes as small as a 10-cent piece. Use cruelty-free physical barriers to permanently seal gaps around pipes, doors, and vents, denying them entry entirely.
+ Tightly-Packed Steel Wool + Wire Mesh + Heavy-Duty Caulk
[ PHASE 02 ]

Attractant Removal

The Vulnerability: Food Sources Don't roll out the welcome mat. Eliminate easy food sources by keeping your yard free of food waste, securing compost bins, and feeding pets strictly indoors.
+ Secure Compost Lids + Clear Fallen Fruit + Sealed Waste Bins
[ PHASE 03 ]

Habitat Modification

The Strategy: Remove Cover Rodents rely on ground cover to travel safely and build nests. Keep your grass trimmed short, clear away accumulated leaf litter, and ensure firewood is elevated off the ground.
+ Trim Grass + Clear Debris Piles + Elevate Wood 30cm+
